California’s governor has signed into law a mandatory $15 per hour minimum wage for the entire state. On the surface it sounds as if the ignorant masses have prevailed in persuading the government to use the police powers of the state to get a huge raise.
What you don’t see up front is the fact that what this new law does is step the minimum wage up to the $15 per hour by the year 2022. That’s 6 years from now! By the time these morons actually get $15 and hour they’ll be complaining they need $30 an hour.
What we’re not going to see every time there is a bump in the minimum wage is the millions of hard working employees who see their dedication and effort get pissed on as they end up back at square one making minimum wage. How many of them are going to look at the situation and come to the conclusion that they don’t have to ever work so hard because they can join the slacker crowd and still get rewarded with a raise.
