It’s a presidential election year and the very survival of our way of life is at stake, however I’m experiencing an unusual void in topics to write about. I’ve run the gambit of emotions, but have not had any ambition to put those feelings into print.
I started out hoping Jeb Bush would garnish support and climb in the poles. When that didn’t happen I wanted Marco Rubio to succeed only to see him faltered and drop out early. What that leaves now is a choice between two self serving government establishment candidates and one load mouth loose lipped self funded self expressed king of the hill. The very thought of any one of those currently running for president (on both sides of the fence) winning the White House makes me physically ill… each for their own reasons.
I’m beginning to come to the realization that Trump is the only person running for president that even has a vision to stop the fiscal bleeding that has our country on a collision coarse toward a crash that will make the great depression seem like a picnic in the park. The only problem with Trump is his brash mannerism. I never liked him as a reality TV host for that very reason. He can’t rid the globe of ruthless dictators by declaring that they are fired and he isn’t going to make many friends by calling the majority of them morons.
Then there is the Democrat side… I get chills at the thought of either Hillary or Bernie becoming president. My wife and I don’t have a huge pot to piss in, but I can’t help feeling that either of them will find it necessary to steal it from us along with the collective wealth of the middle class to pay for all the new entitlement programs that they are pushing to implement.
So you see my dilemma? Right now I’m hoping that Trump becomes more presidential between now and election day so I can feel comfortable pulling the lever for him. It’s always been a case of having to hold your nose and choose the lesser of two evils… this year I’m thinking we’re all going to have to add a ‘God Help Us.’
