Yesterday Derek Chauvin was found guilty of killing George Floyd not once, but three times. I really don’t know how one crime can warrant three charges… Before I go any further let me say that I do think the former police officer was in the wrong as far as his choices that were made in restraining Floyd. Do I feel they warrant anything above a manslaughter charge, No.
Everyone is looking at this case… over scrutinized may be a better description and the consensus is that the jury got it right and justice was served. I look at the trial and see something quite different. The defense didn’t put the officer on the stand to give his side of the story, why? I think it was a conscious decision that was made to prevent further violence and possible harm to the officers of the Minneapolis police force. I don’t think anybody can argue with me when I say if the verdicts came back not guilty that by this morning the whole city would be on fire. Derek Chauvin took one for the team and right or wrong he most likely saved a whole lot of people on both sides of the race issue bodily harm and possibly death.
