Cost of a Government Shutdown

We’re hearing all this gloom and doom predictions about the cost of a government shutdown… what a burden it will be on a huge segment of the population if our non-essential government workers are told to stay home presumably without pay.

Let’s start with debunking the idea that our government work force is going to be sent home without pay. It may be true that many federal government offices would be closed, however every time our lawmakers have run the government a ground they pass a funding bill to pay every one their lost wages as soon as they resolve their issues. What it turns into is extra paid vacation time for those poor government employees, which is most likely where they get their $1.5 billion a day cost of shutting down the federal government.
