Amazon Paid No Federal Taxes…. Oh My

Drudge linked to an article by Emma Roller on Splinternews.com that reported that Amazon made profits of $5.6 billion in 2017 but is paying no federal income taxes. Amazon is owned by one of the richest men on the planet and the article never mentioned how much he pays in federal income taxes on a personal level. Amazon is a LLC, which for those of you who are ignorant with the tax laws means that the profits from the LLC pass through to the owners of that LLC and who then pay income taxes on that money on a personal level. So when they say that Amazon is paying no federal tax it is technically correct, however there are federal…

Is This The New Normal?

Last week we had another horrific mass murder occur on a school campus. However somehow this one seems different… The school administrators, fellow students and the FBI all dropped the ball identifying the shooter as a danger to society in the months leading up to his rampage, but that’s not what the conversation has been about. The FBI was quick to come up with what I call a lame excuse for their inaction. However in my opinion they have a lot of explaining to do why they failed to follow up on all the reported red flags that they had a potential shooter on the horizon. It also seems like the gun control advocates we’re on the scene even before…

Criminal Election Meddling

The Federal Government has handed down indictments charging 13 Russian individuals and 3 Russian companies with activities that were meant to, “sow discord in the U.S. political system, including the 2016 presidential election.” In other words they spread negative information about the candidates, including Hillary and Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. Apparently this activity is a criminal offense, so my question is why are we not throwing every person running for a political office in jail for doing the exact same thing by running negative ads against their opponents?

Injustices

17 students and teachers were killed during a 3 minute shooting spree at a South Florida High School earlier this week and don’t get me wrong it was a horrific senseless crime. Governor Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi immediately headed for the scene. The governor went to make the public think that he’s capable of doing something for the families after the fact. Pam Bondi went to collect information so the state could pay funeral expenses for the dead. President Trump ordered flags nationwide to be flown at half staff and he too is planning a trip to the location to show his support in the aftermath of this hennas action by a seriously flawed teen. So 17 dead…

Another 17 Dead

Another day another school shooting… this time in South Florida at a High School that has left 17 dead. We’re once again reminded that if we see something or feel something isn’t right to say something. Well in this case someone did and nothing was done to stop the carnage. Back in Sept 2017 a YouTube vlogger reported to the FBI that someone had commented on one of his videos that he was going to be a professional school shooter. Turns out the name used on the comment matches that of our latest murderer, so the FBI could have taken this ass off the streets long before he had the chance to carry out his plans to shoot up his…

Stock Market Crashing?

The New York Stock Exchange dropped over 1,000 points yesterday, which brought out all the naysayers who are predicting economic gloom and doom… tied to the Trump administration of course. The markets have all been rising steadily for over a year based on a positive economic outlook under President Trump’s leadership. If anyone has any knowledge of stocks and the markets know that you can’t have a sustained period of increases without having a sell off at some point. This is basically how the rich get richer in this country… they watch their stocks rise in value and when they get that itch they sell and take their profits. The casual investor who got into the market while the prices…

Universal Basic Income Experiment

Stockton, California is getting ready to experiment with Universal Basic Income or UBI. I’m sure we’re going to hear a lot about this concept during the next few elections as the Liberals and Socialist candidates pull out all the stops to lure voters. The idea is to give those residents who are not making what they feel is a basic standard income a check to make up the difference. The city filed for bankruptcy in 2012 after getting in over their heads building arenas and marinas in an attempt to lure in tourist dollars… now they feel initiating this Universal Basic Income program they will retain their citizenship. I’m no expert, but what I see happening is the city is…

Honoring Florida Heritage

In 2016 the Florida Senate approved legislation authorizing the removal of a statue of a Confederate General from the grounds of the US Capitol. This year they are working on legislation to choose a replacement and the front runner is Mary McLeod Bethune the founder of Bethune-Cookman University. Apparently each state is allowed to display two statues at the Capital’s National Statuary Hall. Florida’s second statue is of Dr. John Gorrie who is a pivotal figure in the invention of air conditioning and someone who should be revered as a god by most Floridians. So Florida is considering replacing a Confederate General who was a staunch advocate of slavery and after his military career imploded had ties to the KKK……

Super Bowl Advertisers

There always seems to be one or two commercials during the Super Bowl that make no sense what-so-ever and this years edition is being paid for by Stella Artois in cooperation with Water.org. The commercial is a serious message meant to enlighten the audience about the plight of getting clean water to the under-developed countries of the world. Stella Artois is selling limited edition chalices and will donate a portion of the sale to Water.org. Each glass sold will provide $3.13, which apparently is enough money to bring clean water to one person for five years. (The truth be know it probably cost the .13 cents to provide the water and the other $3 is to pay executive salaries and…

Cost of a Government Shutdown

We’re hearing all this gloom and doom predictions about the cost of a government shutdown… what a burden it will be on a huge segment of the population if our non-essential government workers are told to stay home presumably without pay. Let’s start with debunking the idea that our government work force is going to be sent home without pay. It may be true that many federal government offices would be closed, however every time our lawmakers have run the government a ground they pass a funding bill to pay every one their lost wages as soon as they resolve their issues. What it turns into is extra paid vacation time for those poor government employees, which is most likely…
