It’s been three weeks since the shooting at the Parkland, FL school and the Florida legislature has managed to formulate and pass the ‘Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act’, a bill that when enacted into law will do some of the things the gun control advocates have been clamoring for. The biggies are putting in place a three day waiting period to buy any firearm and bump up the age to 21 for any firearm purchase. It also will, much to the objection of the gun control crowd,  create a system for some school staff to be carrying a concealed weapon. Amazon is owned by one of the richest men on the planet and the article never mentioned how much he pays in federal income taxes on a personal level. 17 students and teachers were killed during a 3 minute shooting spree at a South Florida High School earlier this week and don’t get me wrong it was a horrific senseless crime. Governor Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi immediately headed for the scene. The governor went to make the public think that he’s capable of doing something for the families after the fact. Pam Bondi went to collect information so the state could pay funeral expenses for the dead. The New York Stock Exchange dropped over 1,000 points yesterday, which brought out all the naysayers who are predicting economic gloom and doom… tied to the Trump administration of course. The markets have all been rising steadily for over a year based on a positive economic outlook under President Trump’s leadership. If anyone has any knowledge of stocks and the markets know that you can’t have a sustained period of increases without having a sell off at some point. Stockton, California is getting ready to experiment with Universal Basic Income or UBI. I’m sure we’re going to hear a lot about this concept during the next few elections as the Liberals and Socialist candidates pull out all the stops to lure voters. The idea is to give those residents who are not making what they feel is a basic standard income a check to make up the difference. The city filed for bankruptcy in 2012 after getting in over their heads building arenas and marinas in an attempt to lure in tourist dollars… now they feel initiating this Universal Basic Income program they will retain their citizenship.
